Rocky Mountain IPA | ABV: 6.5% | IBU: 81
FLAVOR POINTS: Classic IPA flavor, Robust hop bitterness with a bold malt backbone.
KEY INGREDIENTS: A proprietary blend of domestic and imported malts and hops, dry hopped with a hearty dose of Centennial.
An IPA by definition is liberally hopped and higher in alcohol. We made Rocky Mountain IPA by dry hopping for an intense floral aroma & adding a generous helping of malt to create a backbone stable enough to support the characteristic bitterness of the beer.
Chocolate Stout | ABV: 5% | IBU: 23
FLAVOR POINTS: Medium body, Dark chocolaty roast
KEY INGREDIENTS: Roasted barley, Munich & Chocolate malts, Cascade & Centennial hops.
A velvety smooth mouthfeel and impeccable flavor make this stout positively seductive as the medium body of the brew leaves you wishing your glass was bottomless. Subtle hop bitterness rounds out the character of roasted barley and chocolate malt in this proven classic.
Red Banshee | ABV: 5.3% | IBU: 33
FLAVOR POINTS: Medium Body, Sophisticated, caramel, toffee character
KEY INGREDIENTS: Crystal & American Red Wheat malts, Willamette & Tettnang hops.
A striking ruby hue and spicy floral aroma punctuate the pleasant sweetness of this brew. Crystal malt coalesces with the earthy flavor of Willamette hops. A hauntingly beautiful combination.
Super Bowl XLVIII may have been less than exhilarating entertainment when the play clock was running, but thank goodness for those commercial breaks. Budweiser and Bud Light did not disappoint with the following commercials featuring Clydesdales, puppies, an American Hero, Don Cheadle, tiny tennis and... a llama?!
Gypsy Lager, ABV 5%, IBUs 18. This Munich-Style Helles lager is brewed in the tradition of great German lagers. Munich and Vienna malts provide a honeyed backbone that is contrasted with the clean bitterness of Perle hops.
Copperhead Ale (existing beer sporting a fresh new look), ABV 5%, IBUs 25. Famous for its signature balanced flavor and impeccable smoothness, this American Amber Ale blends caramalized malted barley with a pronounced hop character.
Rt. 1 Pale Ale, ABV 4.5%, IBUs 40. A Session IPA, noted for its hop forward flavor and low alcohol content. Pale amber and possessing a subtle malt presence, the smoothness of this ale makes it easy to laher, rinse, and repeat as needed.
There were approximately 2,500 breweries operating in the United States in 2013, so we can assume there were plenty of new beer releases to be considered for this list. A crew from firstwefeast.com picked their favorites and some of them happen to be our favorites too! Kudos to New Belgium Brewing's Accumulation White IPA, Victory Brewing's Dirt Wolf, and Goose Island Beer Co.'s Gillian and Bourbon County Barleywine for making the cut. Read the full article here and see if your favorite new beer from 2013 did too.

“Grapefruit and hops pair well together,” said David Blossman. “In fact, many hops have grapefruit characteristics. That’s what makes Abita Grapefruit Harvest I.P.A. a natural choice.” The new brew will make its debut as a part of the Abita Harvest line of brews in December. All Abita Harvest brews are made with ingredients grown in Louisiana and harvested at the height of the season to capture the most flavor for these unique brews. Abita Harvest brews are available for a limited time and in limited quantities. Abita Grapefruit Harvest I.P.A. is a brilliant golden brew with a subtle zest of grapefruit flavor and aroma that enhances the strong hop character. The bright, snappy brew is made with real Louisiana Ruby-Red grapefruit, pale, pilsner, wheat and caramel malts and cascade hops.

In the 14th century, sailors would rely on sheer skill to get from a starting point to a final destination. they called this Dead Reckoning. We see our beer the same way. We know where to begin and know where to go, but there are hundreds of ways to get there. Unfiltered and aggressively hopped for the style, Dead Reckoning's flavor originates in the chocolate and roasted malts, then follows through with sharp, earthy bitterness and a rich, smooth cocoa mouth feel.
